Your iPhone,
your Mac's microphone.
Plug the cable or scan a QR code, and your iPhone becomes a real microphone for your Mac. Zoom, FaceTime, Discord, OBS, Logic — every app that can pick a mic sees it.
Set it up
Install both apps
EZ Microphone from the App Store on the iPhone, and the companion for your Mac from the home page.
Plug or scan
On a Mac the USB cable is the selection: plug it and it starts. Over Wi-Fi, scan the QR code the companion shows.
Pick EZ Mic
In System Settings › Sound › Input, or in each app's audio settings.
A real Mac microphone
The companion installs a Core Audio plug-in, the way Apple wants audio devices built today — not a kernel extension. No security setting to lower, nothing to approve in Recovery. The installer is signed and notarized by Apple.
Mac requirement: Apple Silicon (M1 and later). Intel Macs are not supported. iPhone: iOS 16 or later.
What only the Mac does
Live captions
On-device speech recognition writes what you say as you say it — corrected word by word, settled sentence by sentence. Pick the accuracy tier you want.
Babel
Your captions, translated live and spoken into the virtual mic in the other language, your own voice ducked underneath.
Broadcast everywhere
AirPlay speakers — Apple TV included, paired with the on-screen code — at the same time as the virtual mic.
Mute from the lock screen
The state of the mic lives on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island, with a mute button that works without unlocking (iOS 17 and later).
And everything else
Encrypted Wi-Fi, noise reduction and a noise gate, 20 voice effects and a voice designer, a soundboard of up to 99 pads, meeting mode with echo cancellation, multitrack recording aligned within 2 ms, and dictation to the Mac's clipboard — translated if you want.
